Ofrendas, or Offerings, are part of the traditional Mexican celebration of Día de los Muertos. Ofrendas are created to remember and honor the memory of ancestors and loved ones that have passed. The act of preparing an altar for the dead helps transform grief into acceptance. Traditionally, the altars are adorned with photographs, flowers, decorations, candles, food and drink. This year, 12 local artists create Ofrenda installations that explore the impact of water issues and celebrate the element’s vital connection to all living things.
