On Nov. 24 and Nov. 25 the Garden closes at 4 p.m. due to Las Noches de las Luminarias.
On April 22, 2017, the Desert Botanical Garden hosted 600 business leaders, philanthropists, community partners and Garden friends at the 31th Annual Dinner on the Desert, the Garden’s major annual fundraiser.
Chaired by Rebecca Ailes-Fine the garden inspired theme embraced arriving guests as they enjoyed welcoming refreshments and watched the setting sun spread magical colors over the desert garden. Guests strolled through the Desert Terrace Garden and Jan and Tom Lewis Desert Portal on their way to the silent auction in Dorrance Hall and the chance to bid on more than 260 distinctive plants, pots and garden art, plus unusual and exciting experiences. Dinner on Sunset Plaza placed guests in the shadows of Papago Buttes. After dinner, guests gathered in Ottosen Entry Garden and danced under the stars.
Dinner on the Desert 2017 generated $418,000 to support Sonoran Desert field trips for students, care for the Garden’s world class plant collection and the important conservation efforts of our field botanists.
