Follow the Colorado River from source to sea with National Geographic writer/adventurer Jonathan Waterman, who paddled the entire length of the river in five months, and National Geographic photographer/ filmmaker Pete McBride, who took an intimate aerial portrait of the river’s watershed by following the irrigation water that sustains his family's Colorado ranch. Traversing 1,450 miles and draining seven states, the Colorado River supports over 30 million people across the Southwest. Today, this resource is so depleted it no longer reaches its natural destination – the Gulf of California. Follow the river’s path through these two personal journeys chronicled in their inspirational photo essay, The Colorado River, Flowing Through Conflict to understand this national treasure. Presentation followed by questions and book sale/signing.
Presented in partnership with the Sonoran Institute.
