Explorations in Natural Sciences
Robins, Bluebirds and Their Relatives
Now - July 13, 2013
Saturday | 6:30 - 8:30 p.m.
- Tom Gaskill
Many of us retreat to Arizona's high country in the summer. Among the most common birds at these higher elevations are robins, bluebirds, thrushes and solitaires. In this class, we will learn which species to expect, their relationships, and how to identify them, including the juveniles commonly seen in the summer. We will also explore habitat preferences and survival strategies, as well as ways to plant our yards to encourage visits by these charming birds. You will learn about migration and wintering patterns for robins and their relatives, and which ones to expect here in the lowlands.
