The Desert Landscaper School at Desert Botanical Garden is now accepting applications for the 2010-2011 school year, which commences the week of September 8, 2010.  The program is a 30-week course and classes meet once a week.  Classes are offered in English and Spanish.

Interested students are invited to an open house on Thursday, August 12, 2010 from 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. to learn more about the program.  The open house takes place in Desert Botanical Garden’s Archer House, site of the Desert Landscaper School. 

Horticulturists at the Garden are the teachers of the Desert Landscaper School, a certification program in its thirteenth year at the Desert Botanical Garden. The Desert Landscaper School is highly regarded in the green industry as a leader in education of best practices for desert adapted plants.  Learn the skills that professional landscapers and horticulturists use to create a beautiful and healthy landscape that also preserves our natural environment.  Sign up for the 30-week course and join the quest for understanding the secret of a beautiful desert landscape, putting the right plant in the right place. A “Phoenix Point of Pride”, the Desert Botanical Garden is one of only a few botanical gardens accredited by the American Association of Museums. It is a privately funded, non-profit organization and depends on revenues from admissions and gift shop sales, as well as contributions from individuals and businesses to fund its programs of environmental education, plant conservation and research.
