Summer in the desert is not the time most people think of gardening, particularly those residents new to the Valley or gardening in the desert. Just about the time you are sure you cannot do any gardening in the desert southwest, it is time to consider sowing seeds for the start of your fall garden. All the fall garden herbs and veggies you wish to grow must be started by seed in the summer to ensure a great fall harvest. Sowing a profusion of seasonal seeds is easy and rewarding–and far more enjoyable than watching a plant wilt in the summer afternoon heat.
Start off your day with an early morning tour of the Herb Garden with Catherine, The Herb Lady, as she will show you what grows and when and how to sow seeds in the summer. You will also learn important concepts such as nurse plant and three sisters and get some great take-home materials. Limit 20.
