Illuminated letters enriched with gold and brilliant colors have adorned manuscript pages for centuries. Painting on vellum using watercolors and shell gold, you will select and create a capital letter illustrating a desert plant. Vellum will be available for purchase in class. A 5-inch by 7-inch piece of vellum will be $16. Gold (23½ carat) will cost $21 per tablet. Details for ordering are included in the materials list. Instructor Elaine Hultgren.
