From the small cottage vegetable patch to the elaborate eighteenth-century ornamental farm and today’s popular ornamental arrangements, vegetable gardens have undergone dramatic transformations during their history. This traveling exhibition featuring images from the Smithsonian’s Archives of American Gardens illustrates the development and popularity of the vegetable garden through images and documents from its collections.
