Wildlife Gardening Party: Habitats and Gardening

OVERVIEW:
Students discover desert wildlife along the trails and learn the habitat needs of hummingbirds, butterflies, wildflowers, and others through a variety of activities.  Students gain experience planting seeds, and create a design for their own wildlife garden.

Skills Used During This Tour:

  1. Observe plants
  2. Recognize different plant and animal species
  3. Record observations

Knowledge Outcomes:

  • Know habitat requirements of different species of native plants and wildlife
  • Know how local wildlife adapted to using plants native to Sonoran Desert
