School groups with less than 10 students visit the garden on their own, with their teachers and chaperones serving as guides. This option is available on weekdays after 1 p.m. or on weekends during regular hours of operation. Self-guided visits are $3 per person, with an extra fee of $1 per person for visits to the Butterfly Pavilion. Self-guided visits must be booked at least 3 business days in advance. Q: What resources are available to enhance the Garden visit?
A: Garden maps and a kids’ scavenger hunt are available from admissions. There are also trail guides available for purchase. On weekends from October – April, a kids’ activity table called Target Kids Corner is often open.
Q: Are any exhibits or trails currently closed?
A: The Center for Desert Living trail and Desert House Exhibits are closed for renovations to the Herb Garden. The trail, exhibits and the renovated Herb Garden will be completed in the spring, 2007. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
Q: How is payment made for self-guided school visits?
A: A single lump sum payment should be made by the adult leader upon arrival at the Garden.
Q: May visits be scheduled during festival weekends or summer flashlight tours?
A: No.
