I have seen other outdoor installations by Chihuly but this is by far the most beautiful! The integration of the glass formations with nature is seamless yet the contrast is stunning. An amazing experience! We were there on a sunny afternoon and as the sun got lower, the illumination of the glass constantly changed.

I first saw a Chihuly installation at Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden in Fl about 3 years ago and was very impressed. Just before Christmas I saw the installation at DBG at night...it's spectacular. The lighting makes the pieces look like they are glowing from within, and you would swear some of those pieces are actually growing out of the ground. My sister's visiting from MN in Feb and I have tickets for us. She also saw the Fairchild exhibit, so it will bring back some memories and create new ones.

VERY Cool Exhibit - - any glass blowing demonstrations
by Ron S - 01/17/2009 @ 66.191.16.163
I've been coming to the Desert Botanical Garden for the past few years and the exhibits have been good; but Chihuly exceeds them all!
I know the Garden offers classes; are there also classes about glass blowing? Can anyone help me, i couldn't find anything about it online..

The Garden is offering a workshop called "See What Happens When You Play with Fire" Newt Glass Studio Experience. It's a tour of glass artist Newt Grover's studio. Check the on-line workshops at www.dbg.org/index.php/education/adult/adultclasses/specialevents to read about it and then make your reservation.

My brother died a few days before my mom, sister, and I visited the DBG to see the Chihuly exhibit. The spectacular beauty of the colored glass, combined with the light and extraordinary plant life(as we are not used to it, being from California) made me ask out loud, "what beauty must our brother be experiencing in Heaven?"

Absolutely LOVED the Chihuly exhibit!!! I felt like a kid in a toy store, barely able to wait to see the next display...taking well over 200 photos! Just wish I'd taken my tri-pod for the night shots...others had theirs and I was wishing I did, too. I feel the 4-8 pm viewing period is the best option, as it allows you to see each piece in varying degrees of light/shade...it added even that much more to an already spectacular experience!!! Thank you DBG for an outstanding job well done, and thank you to all of the volunteers who helped guide me along the way!

This exhibit is absolutely beautiful. Mixing the vivacious colors of Chihuly with the gardens of the desert is a sight to see in person. I cannot wait to return to see the night exhibit. Highly suggest decent walking shoes and a personal camera. I took over 300 images! Will be returning several times before Chihuly's departure in May.

I have trouble walking, does anyone know if there are wheel chairs there or golf carts to rent and if so how do I access this info to reserve prior to getting there?

There are wheelchairs to rent. When you make a reservation you can reuqest one, but they are first-come first-serve. There's seems to be plenty of wheelchairs available.

I have been looking for information on this site to tell us where and how we can rent a motorized cart for my husband to use. We had called the Gardens and were told to do it on the internet, but can not find a place to do that.

If you have reservations for a 4 pm res to 8 pm can you come in and then leave for a little and then come back later in the evening?

Installation names?
by Katie - 04/01/2009 @ 12.51.57.26
This was an AMAZING exhibit. I loved every second of it! Is there anywhere I can go to find out the names of all the Chihuly installations currently at DBG? I took pictures of some of the signs corresponding to the installations, but I missed some, too, and would like to label my photos appropriately. Again, beautiful and fascinating exhibit!

If you go through the Desert Botanical Garden's Web site you will see most of the scultpures around the Garden. Their names are under each photo.

I LOVED this exhibit... I agree w/ a previous blogger-- I wish there was a listing of all the exhibits along w/ notes of what each installation was-- I couldn't remember the names of each one... It looks like we missed the "Blue & Purple Boat"-- I'm bummed! I didn't realize we missed one... A listing would've been helpful... I recommend this exhibit to EVERYONE!!!

We were visiting from Illinois in March and just by chance I heard about the exhibit. I had never heard of Dale Chihuly but will never forget the amazing exhibit.

My 4 sisters were in Sedona for our sister vacation and took time while in Phoenix to visit the exhibit. Absolutely fantastic! All who visit should make this a must see!

I saw the Chihuly exhibit at the Phipps in Pittsburgh last year and it was great. I can't wait to see it in the desert.
