Description

Large wading birds sometimes cause identification confusion, especially the white egrets and immature herons. In this class, we will focus on the ecological differences among the many species and behavioral clues that make field identification easier. In this evening classroom session, we will learn about various species and their behaviors. On the field trip, we will travel to the new Phoenix wetlands and put your new skills to use during the busiest time of the year for large waders. There will be immature herons and a large numbers of migrating egrets passing through. Students are encouraged to bring their own binoculars. Field trip transportation is provided.
